I think of art as the highest level of creativity. To me, it is one of the greatest sources of enjoyment.
Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing. Making your unknown known is the important thing. What moves men of genius, or rather what inspires their work, is not new ideas, but their obsession with the idea that what has already been said is still not enough. If I create from the heart, nearly everything works; if from the head, almost nothing. I paint for myself. I don’t know how to do anything else, anyway. Also, I have to earn my living, and occupy myself.”
Strive for two thing design: simplicity. Great design is born of those two things.
The public is more familiar with bad design than good design. It is effect, conditioned to prefer bad design, because that is what it lives with. The new becomes threatening, the old reassuring. A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. It's through mistakes that you actually can grow. You have to get bad in order to get good. I strive for two things in design: simplicity and clarity.
